Ask for a STATE of Rights, on 14.2.2008, Martyrs Square

Third commemoration of the assassination of Rafik HARIRI

I - Facts:

1

In January and early February 2008, the efforts of France and the Arab League have failed to help Lebanese MPs to elect a president of the republic.

2

The elements of the investigation into the assassination of Rafik Hariri on 14.2.2005 are mediated in favour of the indictment of the Syrian regime in this assassination.

3

Acts of terrorism took place against anti Syrian Lebanese, against the security services of the State of Lebanon, and against the Lebanese army.

4

On Sunday, January 27, 2008, several deaths and dozens of injuries are the result of disturbances between demonstrators in CHIYAH and the Lebanese army. The opposition has called for speedy investigations. Several soldiers were arrested for the investigation. The opposition has threatened.

5

The General Michel AOUN remains with HIZBOLLAH and AMAL, in the opposition and demanding guarantees of influence in the future government before agreeing to vote for the General Michel SOLEIMAN to the presidency of the republic.

6

The group of 14 March (the Lebanese Forces, Kataebs, Mustaqbal movement, the Progressive Socialist Party and its allies), believes they have enough lost ground in trying to reach an agreement with the opposition and going further, there will be a risk of a return of Syrian influence in Lebanon blocking independence and progress.

7

Prosyrian Lebanese violently criticized the Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah SFEIR of being positioned politically with the group of 14 March.

8

The Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah SFEIR had the courage to make the right decisions to defend the independence of Lebanon and its democracy by calling for the restoration of the rule of law (STATE of Rights) in Lebanon. He said what millions of Lebanese felt but were afraid to say because of local mafias and the terrorist regime of Syria.

9

The group on March 14 calls for a popular demonstration at Martyrs Square on February 14, 2008, in memory of the martyrs of the independence, mainly Rafik Hariri, at his third memorial.

II - Position of LSTDO:

1

Any Lebanese person or Phoenician is unworthy to live in Lebanon if he does not support this demonstration of February 14, 2008, Martyrs Place.

2

Lebanon is a small and weak STATE. The United Nations and friendly countries for democracy in Lebanon help to restore Lebanese independence. The least we can do is to show a fierce Lebanese willingness against Syrian terrorism and to demand democracy and independence for Lebanon.

3

The LSTDO calls for military intervention of the United Nations to demilitarize Lebanon and protect its neutrality in the Middle East. We urge international action under chapter seven of the UN Charter to safeguard Lebanon and allow the Lebanese parliament to meet and vote for a president of the republic without any delay.

4

The LSTDO calls for the closure of borders with Syria as long as the current regime governs Syria. The Syrian nationals must return home. So is the security of Lebanese citizens. All international economic exchanges can be arranged by air or sea transport.

5

We appeal to General Michel AOUN and his group of deputies to join the group of 14 March before it is too late. His place is among the Democrats to participate in the restoration of the State. The stubbornness of General AOUN should prompt MPs of his group of defecting since their popular bases did not vote to serve the interests of the Syrian regime.

6

Likewise, we call on AMAL and HIZBULLAH militants, who have been misled by the racist and archaic doctrines, defecting and to accept the establishment of a Democrat State of law without the presence of armed militias on the Lebanese soil. They must reject manipulation by the Syrian regime, and working for independent Lebanese citizenship.

7

The time for making historical actions arrived. The group of 14 March was too delayed its decisions. In an attempt to avoid a war, we have the impression that there will be worst wars. The country is bankrupt.

8

The LSTDO did not range for a Lebanese political mafia or another. Errors of political responsibilities can be listed for each group and each party in the majority and the opposition. But there is a huge difference between:

-- Those who want freedom, independence, true democracy, coexistence among religions in Lebanon, the State of Law open to the modern world, a prosperous Lebanon and neutral international policy,

-- And those who encourage the submission of Lebanon to terrorist and dictatorial regime in Syria, the indoctrination of the young Lebanese to become suicide terrorists for ideological sects backward, the destruction of peace and the country's economy, the loss Lebanese doomed to emigration and family breakdown.

9

We therefore call on all true Lebanese to participate in this event on 14 February 2008. But we believe it is time for the Lebanese army to impose the meeting of deputies in parliament and without delay to elect a president of the republic under the simple Constitution. A president elected by a simple majority is a thousand times better than a president appointed by the heads of mafias!
